The BC Range Explained

All BC Racing coilover kits are height and damping adjustable. The BR series is the most popular, affordable choice for daily driving and trackdays. The DS, RM, ER and ZR series add incremental enhancements to the damper specifications to increase control and adjustability to race car standard.

BR/V1 SERIES

The BC Racing BR Series is the most cost-effective height and damping adjustable coilover suspension in the BC Racing range, delivering excellent performance, build quality, ride height control, and handling without compromising comfort for daily driving. Each application is developed through extensive vehicle testing, with the suspension characteristics refined to achieve the most balanced and cost-effective setup possible.

During operation, the oil inside the damper heats up, and as temperature changes, the oil’s viscosity can vary, which may affect damping performance. To minimise this effect, the BR Series coilovers use only high-quality damper oil and feature a large 46mm diameter piston housed within a 53mm diameter damper body, maximising oil capacity. The increased internal volume allows for a greater oil capacity, helping to reduce peak temperatures and maintain more consistent damping performance.

DS SERIES

The digressive piston design of the BC Racing DS Series provides increased damping force at low piston velocities to improve control during body movement, while maintaining a more linear and predictable damper feel at higher piston velocities for improved comfort and wheel compliance over rough surfaces. The dampers retain all the proven benefits of the BR series model, making the DS series an excellent option for drivers seeking a more track-focused suspension setup.

The digressive piston design produces a non-linear damping curve, allowing for increased low-speed damping to better control body roll during cornering, acceleration, and braking. At the same time, it provides reduced high-speed damping, enabling the wheel to move more freely when encountering kerbs or bumps. This helps absorb impacts more effectively rather than transmitting them directly into the chassis, maintaining vehicle stability and overall balance. /p>

RM SERIES

The BC Racing RM Series features high-quality, damping-adjustable inverted monotube dampers for the front axle, or front and rear depending on the vehicle application. The RM Series offers many of the same benefits and features as the BR Series, while adding the advantages of an inverted damper design for serious fast road and track day drivers.

Inverting the damper unit provides several performance benefits, including reduced unsprung weight and improved heat management by positioning critical damper fluid further away from heat sources. This helps reduce the risk of damper fade during prolonged high-performance or track driving, maintaining more consistent suspension performance under extreme conditions.

Unsprung weight is reduced by moving the oil and gas reservoir away from the hub and attaching it to the shell. Unsprung weight is vital to a cars performance as a lighter wheel and hub assembly which readily moves in response to road bumps will have more grip when tracking over an imperfect road. A high unsprung weight can lead to wheel hop over bumpy ground and will reduce the quality of the ride and also untlimate handling as anything that impairs the suspension ability to maintain contact between road and tyre will be of detriment to the cars performance.

Any hard driven car with generate a lot of heat within its braking system. This heat is conducted through the hub to the damper unit. By inverting the oil and gas reservoir the oil and gas is moved away from the hub assembly . This reduces the amount of conducted heat being transferred from the braking system to the hub then to the damper and then on to the gas and oil. As the oil and gas is heated its properties change which has a knock on effect on the damping characteristics of the suspension. By keeping the gas and oil temperatures down BC Racing RM coilovers keep damping rates more consistant resulting in better performing suspension and ultimately allowing you to corner faster, which is the bottom line.

Combined with a digressive piston design, the dampers deliver increased damping force at low piston speeds for improved body control, while maintaining a more compliant and predictable damping curve at higher piston speeds for better ride comfort and wheel articulation.

ER SERIES

The BC Racing ER Series features separate compression and rebound damping adjustment for precise suspension tuning. The ER Series combines the high-quality construction and performance characteristics found in both the BR Series and DS Series, while adding the advantages of external reservoirs to increase oil capacity and improve heat dissipation, helping maintain more consistent damper performance during high-load or extended driving conditions. This design allows drivers to independently fine-tune and set both compression and rebound damping rates, providing greater control and adaptability for a wide range of driving conditions and is ideal for serious track day, drift and race car drivers.

2-way adjustable suspension offering 30 clicks of independent compression and rebound adjustment, allowing precise tuning of damping characteristics. By separating the adjustment for damping compression and rebound the ER Series allows you to dial the vehicle in to your exact needs. When braking hard whilst approaching a corner you want the car to transfer weight to the front tyres to maximise grip for the braking effort and also to allow you to trail brake into the corner without the car understeering.

As you start to lift off the brakes on corner entry you don’t want the suspension to snap back up too quickly as this will remove the loading from the front tyres too quickly and lead to understeer. As soon as the car starts to understeer you need to wind off the steering lock to reduce the work effort applied to the tyres to allow them to regain traction. This slows the vehicles ultimate speed.

The compression damping adjustment allows you to fine tune the way the car rolls onto its front tyres during braking and the separate rebound adjustment allows you to fine tune the way the car responds as you come off the brakes to enter the corner proper and keep the front end hooked up. This allows you to get back on the power sooner and maximise corner exit speed. Corner exit speed is vital because this determines you maximum speed achieved down the next straight.

BC ZR SERIES

The BC Racing ZR Series is a 3-way adjustable, track-ready suspension system designed for drivers ranging from serious track day drivers, novice racers to professional competitors, at a price rarely seen in the high-performance suspension market.

The ZR Series kits offer 30 clicks of rebound adjustment, 20 clicks of low-speed compression adjustment, and 12 clicks of high-speed compression adjustment, providing a wide range of precise tuning options for both high-performance driving and race track driving conditions.

The dampers include remote reservoirs to improve oil capacity and heat dissipation and are of the inverted monotube design to further enhance cooling efficiency, reduced unsprung weight and improved overall suspension response under high-performance driving conditions. A steel-braided, Teflon-coated line exits the top of the damper and connects to external reservoirs, which can be remotely mounted in the engine bay or boot for convenient installation and improved heat management.

The system also provides full ride height adjustment independent of piston travel and spring preload, ensuring optimal suspension performance without compromising damper stroke.
